The Pathway from Heartbreak to Hope

It’s obvious that this world is marked by suffering, pain, and brokenness. This is a universal reality of living in a fallen world. Believers are not exempt from enduring heartbreak. However, we’re not abandoned to our brokenness. When we look throughout Scripture, we see that God has given His people the gift of lament. More than a third of the Psalms are songs of lament, and it is also seen in other portions of Scripture. How gracious of God to give us a biblical language to cry out to Him in our pain! But this is a dimension of Christian life that is often overlooked. Christians don’t understand how they can navigate their grief through the process of lament.

In this episode, we are joined by Mark Vroegop, author of Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy: Discovering the Grace of Lament. Mark is the Lead Pastor of College Park Church in Indianapolis, and he has learned from his personal experience of deep pain the grace of biblical lament. He talks to us about how we can pray these prayers of lament, and how lament truly can be the pathway from heartbreak to hope.
