“The Lord Is…” List

Waiting is hard.

It can be tempting to focus – even obsess – on what you don’t know. You might find yourself asking questions that seem to never end: “Why is this taking so long?” “Why can’t I figure this out?” “What am I going to do if this turns out badly?” A vicious cycle can begin that is emotionally and spiritual taxing.

One of the strategies for waiting is to focus your heart on what you know to be true about God.

It’s how you can practically lead your heart to trust in the Lord as you wait. Ask yourself a different set of questions: “Who is the Lord?” What is he like?” “How has he proven himself trustworthy?” “What do I know about him?”

The following Bible verses will help you wait. The list reflects the verses in Psalms where we find “The Lord is…”

Use this list to remind your heart what you know about God. Pray over the unique expressions of God’s character and his care. Allow the truth of these verses to settle you, assure you, and comfort you as you wait.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14)
