The Grace of Lament

Lament is a prayer in pain that leads to trust.

Although I had been a student of the Bible for many years, biblical lament was new for me. I didn’t even know what to call it at the time. I was merely trying to voice my fears and struggles while at the same time pointing my heart toward God. My quest for spiritual survival opened my heart to this historic and biblical form of prayer. Sorrow tuned my heart to hear the song of lament. I started a journey that taught me the grace of lament.
